Publication Ethics

Journal of Food Health and Bioenvironmental Science Publication Ethics 

The editorial team of the Journal of Food Health and Bioenvironmental Science is committed to remaining the highest levels of integrity in the published content, maintaining these standards, and preventing malpractice. If plagiarism is found, the published research will be maintained in its integrity and validity by following to the ethical standards on plagiarism. The following infractions should to be prohibited and disciplined.

  • Manuscripts and articles that have been evaluated for plagiarism. 
  • Manuscripts and articles which cover up or misrepresent data. 
  • Submitted manuscripts and articles that received repeated revisions. 
  • Published manuscripts and articles that have previously been published elsewhere. 
  • Manuscripts and articles that manipulate citations.

JFHB is dedicated to avoiding every kind of research misconduct and upholding the ethical standards for academic publication. Self-plagiarism is one type of suspected plagiarism that will be managed severely. If cases of plagiarism and self-plagiarism are found, the editorial team will cancel the review process and return the manuscript to the authors, regardless of the severity of the problem. JFHB defines plagiarism as the unacknowledged insertion of content taken from published or unpublished work, whether it was done purposefully or not. Self-plagiarism is the act of submitting a draft to editors that has already been published in full or in part elsewhere with a view of representing its contents as an unpublished original. The following are ethical publication standards for articles.

Ethical guidelines for research projects involving humans or animals.

    The authors must provide the following information in the section "Materials and Methods" of their articles about ethical standards and informed consent for studies involving human subjects and/or animals, including case reports and case series.

  1. The name and approval ID/number of the ethical approval committee or institutional review board from whom they have got consent.
  2. Clearly state if a waiver was requested for the study and the reason for the waiver.
  3. For research involving human participants, the authors must verify that the study was carried out in accordance with the 2013 revision of the Helsinki Declaration.
  4. For studies involving animal subjects, the authors must prove that the study was carried out in accordance with relevant national and international animal welfare standards, such as AAALAC and/or Ethical Principles and Guidelines for the Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes, NRC of Thailand. If feasible, an ethical commission should authorize the research projects. Along with the national and international regulations that were followed to, the ethics committee's name and approval number should be included.
  5. Whether written informed permission was obtained from the participants in the research must be specified. The relevant document(s) must be provided available following request from the journal. If verbal informed permission was obtained, an explanation of the reason(s) that written consent was not given is necessary.

Note: If the research studies use human subjects or animals, the author(s) must indicate that "This study was ethically approved by................ (name of the ethical approval committee/Institutional Review Board they have obtained consent from) along with approval number/ ID (case/permission number.....). The authors should declare that "All procedures performed in studies involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 2013 Helsinki declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards" if a waiver was accepted.

Editorial Regulations 

  1. The editors have a responsibility to take submitted publications in the fields of food, health, biology, and the environment into consideration. The content solely will be subject to consideration. The editor's decision is not influenced by the writers' ethnicity, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, political opinions, or religion. 
  2. Through the process, the editors must only provide information about the submissions to the authors, reviewers, and JFHB staff. 
  3. The editors must ensure that no writers or related organizations have a material conflict of interest. 
  4. The editorial staff must ensure that at least two reviewers in the fields of food, health, biology, and the environment, or other relevant fields appropriate for each paper, have peer-reviewed the manuscript. The editing staffs also need to use caution when it involves plagiarism, data fabrication, and infringements of copyright. Before considering rejecting the manuscript, the editor has to check into any violations of the abovementioned standards as well as search for additional evidence. 
  5. The editors must to investigate for the matter and consider reject if there's a reason to assume that the article has already been published anywhere else. 
  6. Action will still be handled seriously even if further evidence of unethical publication practices appears.

Reviewer Regulations 

  1. The reviewers are supposed to provide informative and professional opinions. It's important to prevent Improper criticism. 
  2. The reviewers should notify staff immediately if the manuscript they are provided is beyond their area of expertise. 
  3. The manuscript must be kept private by reviewers. Do not share information about the manuscript to anyone except the editorial staff. 
  4. The reviewers must inform the editorial team if they discover that the other works included in the manuscript are not properly attributed. 
  5. The reviewers are expected to inform the editorial staff know when there are any conflicts of interest. Whether or whether the reviewer is appropriate for the manuscript will be decided by the editors.

Author Regulations 

  1. The authors should focus their manuscripts on the areas of food, health, biology, and the environment. The research manuscript should have accurate information, an efficient method, APA-style citations, and a reasonable discussion. 
  2. The authors should absolutely follow by the journal's guidelines. 
  3. The word "opinion" or "perspective" must be clearly emphasized for each view or perspective presented in the manuscript. 
  4. The authors must use attention and be conscious of the actuality that providing inaccurate information and leaving out essential information are unethical author behaviors. 
  5. In the case that the editor requests it, authors must be able to produce research data. 
  6. The authors are required to properly cite other works. Every contribution made to the manuscript must be properly acknowledged. 
  7. The manuscript must not have already been published elsewhere, and it cannot be accepted for publishing in other journals, according to the authors. 
  8. To be credited as an author, a person must have made significant contributions to the manuscript, taken part in revisions and provided valuable, effective content, and provided approval for publication. Researchers who do not meet the aforementioned requirements ought to be acknowledged in the acknowledgements section. 
  9. The author should identify any conflicts of interest that might have affected the data or how they were interpreted. 
  10. During the revision process, the authors must respond to each criticism and recommendations made in order to construct an effective revision. 
  11. The authors should notify the editors right once if they discover any errors in their works that need to be corrected.

 

How to Handle Research Misconduct Allegations.

  • In accordance with ethical standards, the relevant actions, such as retraction, correction, or statement of concern, will be taken if the investigation reveals evidence of misconduct.
  • A conclusion achieved regarding allegations that have proven to be inaccurate or unsupported by sufficient evidence will be reported to all participants involved.
