Readiness of People to Withstand Flood at Thepparat Sub - district, Sichon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract
The objectives of the study were to determine the socio-economic condition, readiness level and factors affecting the readiness of people to withstand flood at Thepparat sub–district, Sichon district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. Data were collected by using the designed questionnaires interviewed 249 respondents. The statistical analysis method employed for the data analysis were percentage, mean, minimum, maximum, standard deviation, t-test and F-test. The given significance level was 0.05.
The results of the study indicated that the most respondents were male (54.60 %) with their average age of 45.96 years. Their educational level were at primary school/uneducated (62.65%) and the average number of household members was 3.88. Their main occupation of the most was agriculture (86.75%) and without subsidiary occupation (85.14%). Their average annual household income was 173,420 baht. Most of the respondents were born in the present areas (72.70%), their average resettled periods was 39.84 years and no having experienced in leadership being (85.10%). Have experienced damage from flood in the past (93.17%) and was ever received information about flood warning (98.00%). Most of the respondents have participated in the relevant activity about withstand flood at the low level (65.46%) and has been supported from the relevant agencies to withstand flood at the high level (58.23%). Their knowledge about cause of flood, soil and water conservation at the high level were 54.60% and 51.80%, respectively.
Readiness level to withstand flood overview was at the high level. Factors affecting the readiness of people to withstand flood were age, educational level, household income, participation in the relevant activities about withstand flood, having the support from the relevant agencies to withstand flood, knowledge about cause of flood and knowledge about soil and water conservation.
