Signature Characteristics of Eucalypt Cultivation Areas In the Northeast of Thailand

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the remotely sensed signature characteristics of eucalypts in different age classes for use in the classification of eucalypt plantings in northeast Thailand. The results showed that there are 2.52 million rai of eucalypts planted in northeast Thailand (2.42% of the whole country). Buriram province has the highest planted area of eucalypts with about 0.25 million rai, while Mukdaharn province has the lowest area with 63,718 rai. The reliability of the estimation process was 68.68%. Signatures in BAND1, BAND2, BAND3 and BAND4 had digital number (DN) values between 38 and 207, 37 and 176, 44 and167, and 25 and 192, respectively.
