Abstract

Agroforestry plan is a component of Thai Forestry Sector Master Plan which has been carried out since the mid of 1990 and to be finalized by the end of this year (1993). The plan is grouped in the category concerning people and environment plans. It aims at solving the problems of wood scarcity through intergration of woody trees into farmland as well as improving the effectiveness of so-called taungya plantation to lessen pressure on agricultural land. The plan proposes management approach toward productivity, sustainability, and equity. This paper summarized the problems involving agroforestry development, consideration for agroforestry planning, present situation of agroforestry land-use and its prospect, as well as agroforestry plan.
