AGROFORESTRY IN CELEBRATION OF THE SIXTIETH BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY OF HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN

Abstract
Agroforestry is being held in honor of Her Majesty the Queen's 60 years birthday as a pattern for the farmers to understand how to utilize the benefit of the forests without destroying them, and also to conserve our natural phenomena by promoting plantation of His Majesty recomended kind of trees and they are woods for various usages, rapid growing woods and fruit trees. In addition, field crops, vegetables, herbs, flowering plants, orchids as well as, certain kind of plants necessary for household consumption. Plantation of plants required proper selection of plants that suit the environmental condition in the region and correct treatment. In the beginning of the rainy season, plants of drought tolerance variety should be grown because it is found from previous experiments that most plants that grow under rainfed condition totally died during dry season. But 60-70% of these plants would be able to survive if some amount of water could be applied
