Abstract

Hornbills are cavity-nesting birds. Because of their inability to excavate nest holes, their breeding entirely depend on the availability of natural tree cavities or animal-made communities in trees. Some characteristics of nests and nest locations were discussed. Competition the nest holes was observed and discussed. Causes of nest abandonment were identified. Predation and mortality were reported. Importance of fruit food and its correlation to rainfall were discussed.
