Efficiency Study on Estimation of Yield of Eucalyptus Clone K58 Trees Using Canopy Cover Variable from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

Abstract

Forest inventory is the collection and analysis to know yields of forest resource. There are various forms and methods of forest inventory. Estimation models were created of the yield from eucalypt clone K58 (volume, biomass and fresh weight) at age 5 years, using field data variables (tree height, diameter at breast height, tree position, canopy cover) and compared with using a canopy cover variable from an unmanned aerial vehicle.


Based on the results of the study, several models were developed to estimate the yield of eucalypt clone K58: volume (V) = 0.000128(DBH2.236)(Ht0.392), with R2 =0.978;; biomass ( Bm) = 0.0590(DBH2.220)(Ht0.609), with R2 =0.9763) and fresh weight (W) = 0.0785(DBH2.202)(Ht0.651), with R2 =0.9767. In addition, the same yield estimates using a canopy cover variable (Ap) from an unmanned aerial vehicle generated equations: V = 0.017(Ap0.944), with R2 = 0.869; Bm = 13.489(Ap0.968), with R2 = 0.845 and W = 19.396(Ap0.969), with R2 = 0.845.
