Abstract

The purpose of this research were (1) to collect database of tourist attractions of the tourism authority of Thailand’s campaign “12 Cities You Can’t Say No” which located in the Northeast region of Thailand and, (2) to create and to display tourism map through Google Maps GIS online technology on mobile and smartphones. Application of geo-informatics was required to indicate the location and details of tourist destinations from field survey by global positioning system (GPS). The researcher found that the numbers of attractions in provinces were followings; 49 in Chaiyaphum and Surin provinces, 42 in Buriram province and 40 in Loei province, and 180 attractions altogether. The attractions in the studied areas were reclassified and attractions divided in categories by the Tourism Authority of Thailand. The first stage was the tourism navigation systems travel on Google Maps GIS online technology from current position to destination database and maps. Service and support association can constantly update attraction information of the tourism in “12 Cities You Can’t Say No” which located in the Northeast region of Thailand. The sharing for mentioned attractions was applicable and convenient through Gmail, Google Drive, Facebook and Twitter in order to plan the journey, which is suggested for hidden attractions that tourists should not miss out.
