Abstract

The purpose of this research is to propose a clear approach for assessment of the village waterworks systems from groundwater resources managed by the water user committee. Three village waterworks systems in Thungluknok Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Kamphaeng Saen, Nakhon Pathom, were assessed according to the best practices of village waterworks systems. The assessment can be categorized into 5 sectors: (1) participation, (2) quantity and quality of water, (3) water infrastructure, (4) management and (5) supporting from related agencies. Data were conducted from field survey, interview, questionnaire survey, and water quality testing. This research found that all case studies should be improved in the management sector by applying water demand management, using information technology for the management and emphasis on preventive maintenance. Moreover, this assessment framework can be applied as a tool for monitoring other waterworks systems to achieve more effective management.
