Media Exposure of Durian Farmers in Tha Mai District, Chanthaburi Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study personal and economic factors of farmers 2) to study media exposure about durian of durian farmers in Tha Mai District, Chantaburi Province. The sample size of this study was 354 durian farmers in Tha Mai district, Chantaburi province. Data were collected using interview schedule. Statistic analyze to data using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum figure. The results of this research indicated that most of the durian farmers were male (62.4%) with average age at 44.48 years, graduated with secondary school to high school (34.7%), married, the average number of family members were 4 persons, the average experience in durian planting were 12.08 years, the average durian plantation area were 10.24 rai, the average expense was 18,094.63 baht per rai, the average income was 56,926.55 baht per rai. Most of the durian farmers used their own funding source (67.2%). Durian farmers received information about durian from people media through agricultural extension agents and community leaders (57.3%), mass media through academic papers and books relevant to agriculture (58.8%), activity media through the meeting (50.0%), and online media through Facebook (59.9%).
