Farmers’ Opinions toward Mayongchid Nakhon Nayok Cultivation in Mueang Nakhon, Nayok District, Nakhon Nayok Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study 1) demographic factor, economic factors of farmers in Mueang Nakhon Nayok District, 2) the opinion toward Mayongchid cultivation, and 3) The relationship between economic factors with Mayongchid cultivation in Mueang Nakhon Nayok district, Nakhon Nayok province. The sample sizes consisted of 289 Mayongchid farmers by accidental random sampling. Data were collected by interview schedule. Statistical analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum and Chi-square to test the hypothesis. Results of this research found that most farmers were male with an average age of 55.92 years old, attained no formal education to primary school, number of the household member were 3–4 people and average experience 11.83 years. The average area of Mayongchid cultivation was 2.33 Rai. The average expense was 1,508.78 Baht/Rai/year. Their used own finances. In the year 2018, the average yield of Mayongchid was 25.27 kg/Rai. The average income of Mayongchid plantation was 4,138.87 Baht/Rai/year. The overall of the economic factors that related to the Mayongchid planting and the opinions about planting Mayongchid of farmers in the preparation varieties, harvesting, marketing and sales were at the high level. The Mayongchid planting trends was at the moderate. Economic factors related to Mayongchid planting of farmers include planting area, product, the cost of planting, and number of labor level at 0.01 of significance.
