Teaching Method Development Using Self-Directed Learning with Ready-Made Lessons for Commercial Meat Product Subject

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1) to develop a teaching method using selfdirected
learning with ready-made lessons 2) to compare learning achievement of students
using self-directed learning method with ready-made lessons and using course book and
3) to study perspectives of the students on the self-directed learning with ready-made
lessons. The population were 47 students enrolled in semester 2/2016 in Department of
Agro-Industry in colleges of agriculture and technology in northeast Thailand. Purposive
sampling was used to choose sample group. The samples were 15 students enrolled in
Department of Agro-Industry, Ubonratchathani College of Agriculture and Technology and
studied Commercial Meat Product. Statistics used for data analysis were average, standard
deviation, independent T-test and two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results were
1) The efficiency of self-directed learning method with ready-made lessons was 81.45/88.36
2) Learning achievement of the students using self-directed learning method with readymade
lessons was higher than learning achievement of students using course book and it
was significantly different at the .01 level of confidence. 3) Overall perspective of students
on self-directed learning method with ready-made lessons was in high level with average
score of 3.90.
