First Year Vocational Students’ Opinions Towards Dual Vocational Training System Learning Management at Panyapiwat Technological College

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study opinions of first-year students towards
dual vocational training system learning management at Panyapiwat Technological College.
Qualitative data for this study was collected from a semi-structured focus group interview
with forty-four first-year students from one class of the B.E. 2559 academic year. Purposive
sampling was used to obtain a sample size of twelve students. The research results yielded
opinions that were categorized into six aspects: 1) Student Acceptance - the institute should
conduct theoretical examinations and establish interviews to discover professional
knowledge at the workplace in order to be able to select suitable students for the dual
training system. 2) Academic Staff – the institute and workplace should organize a joint
seminar on occupational training in the workplace in order to operate in the same way and
share the necessary knowledge of the workplace. 3) Learning Management – the institute
and workplace should cooperate in developing lesson plans and instruction manuals for the
dual system in vocational education. Moreover, the institute should provide both theoretical
and practical classes for students prior to occupational training in order for them to gain
knowledge, skills, proficiency and positive attitudes for future use. 4) Collaboration with the
workplace - the institute and workplace should share with each other important information
which benefits the student, such as a previous enrollment subjects and available place for
traning student. 5) Monitoring and evaluation - the institute and workplace should carry out
co-assessment and inform students about evaluation criteria. In addition, supervision based
on minimum criteria should be carried out to provide students with maximum benefit.
