Abstract

Germination of teak (Tectona grandis L.f.) pollens collens from different crown directions (north, south, east, west and in the central part of the crown) were investigated. The pollens were collected from 23 years old teak trees grown in Mae Tha Seed Orchard, Lampang province, in July, August and September 1997. The test was done in Brewbaker's pollen gemination media within 24 hours after collection. The result revealed that differences in germination percentages of pollens from the directions were statistically significant in July and highly statistically significant in August and September. Germination percentage of pollen collected from southem direction was lowest. However, no significant difference of gemination percentage of pollen collected from all directions in different months was observed.
