Abstract

The reduction of 8 oximes (6 ketoximes and 2 aldoximes) with sodium borohydride under acidic condition was studied. The reduction of certain oximes, particularly cyclohexanone oxime, gave corresponding N-monosubstituted hydroxylamines in comparable yield with the reduction with sodium cyanoborohydride under the same conditon. Aromatic ketoxime and aldoximes were poorly reduced and corresponding hydroxylamines were not obtained.
