Abstract

Weights from 35 days up to 168 days of 179 performance tested pigs of the National Swine Research and Training Center at Talbwang, Saraburi, were analysed. It was indicated that Duroc was the amallest while Landrace was the largest, however at initial growth phase Large White was larger than Landrace the overall growth curve functions based on simple-linear and simple exponential regression accounted for 98.53 and 96.65% of variability. Furrthermore, the with in breeds and sexes regressions accounted for 96.40 to 99.00% of variability. Prediction of weights at 112 and 168 days were obtained by the forward selection and the stepwise regression procedures which resulted in total R2 0.57 and 0.75 respectively. Prediction of weight from growth curve functions were shown and the application of the results were discussed.
