Cement and Sand Stabilization of Lateritic Soils for Low Cost Housing
Abstract
Lateritic soil from Ratchaburi province was stabilized with cement and sand to investigate its use for low cost houring. The effect of cement concentration, sand content, compacting pressure, moisture content and time of curing were studied. Results showed that compressive strength of cylindrical samples (6.35 cm. in diameter and 12.70 cm. in length) was increased significantly with increasing cment content. The response of the compressive strength to sand and moisture content was excellent. The compressive strength increased with increasing compacting pressure and time of curing.
