Histological Study on Effect of Kapok Seed Meal and Kapok Seeds on Gonads and Livers in Broilers
Abstract
Histological studies on gonads and livers of broilers after fed with a ration supplemented with kapok seed meal to replace 20% plant protein or kapok seeds to replace 10% plant protein for 8 weeks were carried out. Increase of stromal connective tissue and decrease of developing follicles were observed in the ovaries in comparison with the control. Proliferation of interseminiferous tubule counective tissue in testes of the treated animals was also revealed. The livers were affected with histological lesions of degeneration, focal necrosis and fibrosis.
