Propagation of Alucasia through Tissue Culture
Abstract
Shoot-tip sections of Alocasia amazonica and A. chelsonii were cultured on a modified Murdshige and Skoog basal medium. They were able to regenerate plantlets. Shoot-tip tissues of A. amazonica were able to regenerate 1,295 plantlets per shoot-tip within 6 months while A. chelsonii regenerale 1,369 plantlets per shoot- tip. However. A. amazonica could produce callus 1 2.05% of the cultured tissues after 3 months, of which it could be induced to regenerate plantlets as well. Plantlets from these 2 species could be obtained within 30-40 days after culturing in vitro
