Abstract

The dry weight accumulation rate and duration of effective seedfilling period in rnungbean (Vigna radiatn (I,.) Wilczek) varieties CES 87, CES 14, Pag-asa, U-Thong 1 and local variety were measured in three successive experiments planted in the farmer fields in Bangpae district of Rachaburi Province. The objective was to evaluate the relationship between growth rate of individual mungbean seed and grain yield. The result from this study indicated that high yielding varieties of mungbean also had high rate of drymatter accumulation in seed. However, we were not able to demonstrate that relationship between yield and duration of seed filling period existed in mungbean. Positive correlation between rate of seed filling period and yield per plant was found. However, such relationship between rate of seed Filling period and seed size was not obtained.
