Abstract

In an extensive survey of 144 species of indigenous plants. herbs. and trees. which bloomed successively and dominate the area of Doi Ang Khang from one to other in the twelve nlonths period using bee visitarions as the indicator. it reveals that only 40 species showed their attractiveness t o the eastern honey hee. Apis cerana [:ah. Amony these 40 species. only 20 kinds of them demonstrated siynificanr pollen and or neclar sources of the bee. They were Amaranthus spinosus Linn.. Ageratum conyzoides Linn.. Bidens pilosa Iinn . . Buddleja asiatica Lour. . Clematis gouriana Hoxb . . Cuphea hyssopijolia HHK.. Cynodon dactylon Linn . . Desmodium megaphyllum Zoll.. Docynia indica Decne. Hedyotis venosa Korth.. Kydia calycina Hoxb.. Musa acuminata Colla.. Polygonum barbatum Linn.. Prunus cerasoides I).l)on.. Rubus ellipticus Sni.. Schefflera bengalensis Gam.. Siegesbeckia orientalis DC.. Solanurn toroum Sw.. and Sonchus arvensis Linn. Among 20 species of plants Whtch were minor importance included Artemisia annua Linn.. Cissus hastata Micl . . Crotalaria retusa Linn . . Debregeasia wallichiana Willd . . Galinsoga paroiflora Cav . . Goldfussia sp, . Melastoma normale D. Donx.. Milletia extensa Benth . . Mimosa pudica Linn . . Oxalis corniculata Linn.. Phaseolus adenanthus Mey.. Plantago major Linn.. Plectranthus coetsa Kudo.. Plectranthus hispidus Benth.. Stephania japonica Miers. var. japonica. Themeda caudata (Nees. A. Camus). Trichosanthes lepianiana C'ogn .. Trichosanthes quingueangulata Gray.. Urena lobata Linn. and Verbena officinalis Linn. The peak o f foraying on wild flora of the eastern honey bee. in general. was recordecl at 10.00 am. to 14.00 pm. with the highest at 12.00 14.00 pm
