Abstract

Suckers of different genomes of fourteen banana cultivars viz: ‘Klaui Khai’ (AA), K. Homchan (AA), K. Nam Thai (AA), K. Leb Mu Nang (AA), K. Lakatan (AAA), K. Nak (AAA), K. Khai Bong (AAA), K. Hom Maew (AAA). K. Hom Thong (AAA), K. Roi Wi (AAB), K. Nga Chang (AAB), K. Namwa (ABB), K. Hin (ABB) and K. Teparod (ABBB). Each sucker was cut into one cubic inch and surface sterilized in 10% chlorox for 20 minutes. Each of them was sectioned into 4 pieces and cultured on MS medium supplemented with 15% coconut water and 5 mg/l of BA. The CRD with 14 treatments 6 replications was designed and analysed with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. The results shown significant difference on development of plantlet from different gonomic bananas, those were AA, AAA, AAB genome explants were proliferated better than ABB and ABBB. Number of plantlets per explant were non-significant, but period of proliferation of AA, AAA and AAB were shorter than ABB, ABBB.
