Abstract

The corm of Kluai Khai was cut into a cubic inch, and surface sterilized in 10% clorox for 15 minutes. After that, it was sectioned into 4 pieces and cultured on MS medium supplemented with 15% coconut water, 1 g/l activated charcoal and 0, 1, 5, 10 mg/l BAP. It was found that a piece of shoot cultured on MS medium with 15% coconut water, 1g/l activated charcoal and 10 mg/l BAP can be induced and developed into a plantlet in 6 weeks. Divided the plantlet and subcultured on MS medium with 15% coconut water, and 5 mg/l BAP, number of plantlet increased approximately 3.33 plantlets per one explant per month. 6-Benzylaminopurine, Musa (AA group), ‘Kluai Khai’ using this technique, 14,000 plantlets per year could be produced.
