Abstract

The experiment on the use of cylindrical flapsible fishing traps to catch the aquatic animals at Si Racha Bay, Changwat Chon Buri was carried out between May to August, 1989, at the depth of 7 meters. The study was divided into 4 treatments; the three colours of underwater luring lamps, red, yellow, green, and squid bait were used for luring. The results revealed that, the swimming crab, Portunus pelagicus, entered only in the red lamp traps 1.3% of the whole total weight. The squid bait traps gained 65% of catch. The percentage of fishes caught by red lamp, yellow lamp, green lamp and squid bait traps were 4.2, 4.4, 3.2 and 21.9% by total weight of catch respectively.
