Inheritance of Albinism in Clarias Macrocephalus Gunther
Abstract
The study on inheritance of albinism in Clarias macrocephalus was conducted. In 1986 albino fish were crossed with normal-colored fish from different population having no known history of albinism, and all normal off springs were produced. In 1987,3 types of crosses were done. The F1 hybrids mated inter se and backcrossed to albinos produced phenotypic ratio of 3 : 1 and 1 : 1 (normalcolored : albino) respectively; albino X albino cross produced all albino. This results clearly demonstrated that albinism in Clarias macrocephalus is controlled by a single autosomal recessive gene with complete dominant gene action.
