An Innovative System for Student Project Management and Retrieval Using Serverless Web Application Technology

Abstract

The Computer Science Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Rajabhat Mahasarakham University, has encountered challenges in managing and retrieving student projects due to the absence of a centralized database system, resulting in fragmented data and risks of information loss. This research aimed to: (1) develop a student project management and retrieval system using serverless web application technology, and (2) evaluate the efficiency of the developed system. The study employed the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as the research methodology. The system was developed using Google Apps Script in conjunction with Google Sheets to implement a serverless database and processing architecture. The user interface was designed using Tailwind CSS to ensure responsiveness across multiple devices. The sample group consisted of five experts in computer engineering and information technology, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included the developed system and a system efficiency evaluation form based on Black-Box Testing. Data were analyzed using mean () and standard deviation (S.D.). The results revealed that: (1) the developed system functioned effectively on web browsers, comprising key features such as project search, document display and download, and administrative data management. The system reduced operational complexity and eliminated the need for server maintenance costs. (2) The overall system efficiency was rated at a very good level ( = 4.57, S.D. = 0.52), with usability receiving the highest score. The system effectively addressed existing project management issues, reduced infrastructure costs, and can serve as a prototype for low-cost information systems in educational institutions with limited budgets.
