Abstract

Thailand faces many common problems relating to her forest lands like many countries in the Asia-Pacific Region. Future forestry programmes should be directed toward the development of community forestry or forests for local people. The present state of forestry manpower and technology, community forestry education development programmes including curriculum development in social forestry at Kasetsart University and the establishment of Asia-Pacific Community Forestry Training Center (APCFC) have been reviewed. Some selected community forestry projects in Thailand, the Forest Village Project as well as the Integrated Watershed Development Project were also discussed.
