Host Range of Fungi Pathogenic to Waterhyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.)Solms.)

Three species of fungi pathogenic to waterhyacinth were used in pathogenicity test on 10 different kinds of plants: Hibiscus sabdariffa, Oryza sativa, Zea mays, Sorghum vulgare, Phaseolus aureus, P. mungo, Arachis sabdariffa, Oryza sativa, Zea mays, Sorghum vulgare, Phaseolus aureus, tonia solani was able to cause infectious damages on leaves of all of these plants and also incited a postemergence damping off disease to the test plants at seedling state except those in the family Gramineae. All plants except N. tabacum were susceptible to Myrothecium roridum, whereas Alternaria eichhorniae could infect only H. sabdariffa.
