The effect of aspirin and sucrose on vase life of Dendrobium Pompadour cut orchid flowers was studied. Cut orchid flowers were held in vase solutions of 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 ppm aspirin in combination with 0.5, 1, 2 and 4% sucrose and the pH of solutions was adjusted to 3,4,5,6 and 7. The results showed that cut orchid flowers held in 300 ppm aspirin + 1% sucrose and the pH of solutions was 3 had the longest vase life of 18 days while those held in distilled water had vase life of 8.7 days. Cut orchid flowers from production sites with short vase life tended to respond to the vase solution better than those from production sites with long vase life.
