Effect of Age of Male at Castration on Growth and Carcass Quality of Swine.
บทคัดย่อ
The effect of age of castration of males on growth and carcass quality of swine were measured using 18 boars castrated at 30, 60 and 90 days of age. It was found that age of castration did not effect on growth rate, feed efficiency, performance and carcass quality of pigs. So if the pig was not used for purebred, we could castrated at 1-3 weeks of age because it was easy to control and the pig did not stress. The purebred breeders can delay castration for better selection of boars with out any serious effect on growth, carcass characteristics and feed requiements.
