The Village Health Volunteers Experience in Caring for Diabetic Patients in the Community

Abstract

         This Qualitative Research aimed to study experience of Village Health Volunteers (VHV) to take care for Diabetic Mellitus(DM) patients in community in Tat sub-district Warinchamrab District  Ubonratchatani Province,  were used VHV 22 persons, Collected data by In-Dept interview and were analyzed by hermeneutics. Results found the sample were female age between 41-59 years and health care experience between 2-23 years, VHV experience to care for DM patients in community divide into 3 levels such as 1) Primary prevention such as Knowledge about diet and exercise  2) Secondary prevention such as screening by weigh waist measurement and check blood pressure and capillary blood glucose at home 3) Tertiary Prevention such as check capillary blood glucose, foot care and drug delivery to patient at home. This study may help to understand the experiences of VHV for take care DM patients and is a role model for take care chronic disease in community and reduce the number of patients and save money.
