Abstract

Organizations’ Information System (IS) development helps organizational units work collaboratively and efficiently for delivering successful work outcomes. This in turn contributes to critical linkages between successes in ISs and organizational management, which depend on clear and suitable IS management processes. Thus, research questions involving IS management success factors, guidelines, problems were determined in this research, by Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Nine electronic databases. i.e., ACM, Emerald, IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Springer, ThaiLIS, DRIC, and TNRR were searched. Only 24 out of 3,565 papers were selected and synthesized by SLR steps. The results reveal that success factors influencing IS management consist of management support, management process, individual competency, communication, and collaboration. Guidelines for effective IS management include strong internal management and control, individual skill development, committed management support, teamwork, and management of ISs and IT; while critical problems were mostly related to lack of management support, poor management, lack of collaboration, lack of needed skills and competency, and inappropriate technology.
