Safety behavior of workers and Risk Assessment in Occupational Health and Safety. A case Study of junk shop in Sansuk Warin Chamrap District ,Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract

This study was a cross-sectional descriptive research aimed at studying the occupational safety behavior of workers. The study population was 45 persons, along with the occupational health and safety risk assessment of junk-shop in Warin Chamrap District, Ubon Ratchathani province. The questionnaire was used as a tool to collect information on safety behavior, hazard identification by check list method in general environment and working procedures, and risk assessment in accordance with the methodology of the Department of Industrial Works,2000 .

The results showed that the safety behavior of workers in junk-shops had moderate level of safety behavior 53.30% found that most workers had unsafe behaviors to wear personal protective equipment when accidents occurred to other workers 26.70%. Work while sick or injured and smoke during work 20.00% .Do not wear personal protective equipment because it is obstacle to work 17.80%. The risk assessment for occupational health and safety is the most unacceptable risk. The two most common occupational are wokers in the workplace and at the workplace are exposed to Animal disease such as rats, cockroaches, flies in the department of move procedures and the department of screening procedures. the establishment should provide a no smoking sign while the workers. Practice and should be eliminated at the area where the animals. Entrepreneurs should educate of Safety behaviors for workers for example, should encourage workers to wear personal protective equipment and do not smoke during work
