Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate resistance to compression force and stackability of prototype bioplastic packaging for pottery products and the acceptance by consumers and producers. Two types of Prototype packaging boxes, cap lid box (Type 1) and sliding lid box               (Type 2), were tested. Box Compression Test experiments were performed and the results showed that Type2 packaging was more resistant to the compression pressure but Type 1 packaging could be stacked with more layers than Type 2 by all stacking methods with the maximum of 109 layers. The results from the interviews and questionnaires showed that means of overall acceptance by consumers and producers for bioplastic packaging produced from jackfruit-seed starch were                 4.26 + 0.71 and 3.84 + 1.06, respectively.
