Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine total phenolic conpounds, as well as types and amount of phenolic acids in various Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia volubilis Linn.) plants, young leaves, mature leaves, tea from Sacha Inchi leaves, seed coat and seed by spectrophotometric method. The results showed that the highest of total phenolic in mature leaves content was 190.25 ± 3.31 mg GAE/100 g of dry sample. Whereas in seed coat was the lowest of total phenolic. In Sacha Inchi tea leaves, it was found that total phenolic content was 296.09 ± 6.64 mg GAE/100 g of dry sample. Types and amount of phenolic acids analyses in various Sacha Inchi by High Performance Liquid Chromatography comparing with standards of phenolic acids, gallic acid, valnillic acid, syringic acid , p–coumaric acid and ferulic acid. The greatest amount of gallic acid and valnillic acid, ,127.08 ± 4.96 and 141.00 ± 2.40 µg/100 g of dry sample respectively, were found  in Sacha Inchi tea leaves. On the other hand, The greatest amount of syringic acid and ferulic acid, 35.14 ± 3.70 and 1,143.03 ± 3.51 µg/100 g of dry sample respectively, were found in mature leaves and the greatest amount of p–coumaric acid was found in young leaves 213.56 ± 1.43 µg/100g of dry sample.
