Travelers and Experts Comparison of Requirements on the Decision Making of Non-Motorized Transportation Traveling Inside the University Area in Chiang Mai

Abstract

This research proposes to study and compare the decision making of non-motorized transportation (walk and bicycling) traveling inside the university area in Chiang Mai both the travelers and the experts view. The method is divided into four steps; (1) the travelers survey by factors ranking interview and the experts survey by pairwise comparison interview, (2) exploratory factor analysis from the traveler’s data, (3) evaluating the decision making factors by analytical hierarchy process structure, and (4) comparison the both results and conclusion. The results show that both evaluations are similar in some factors such as safety and design standard, transportation network, and facilities but the experts have suggested an important factor in policy and management which different from the travelers.
