YRU Journal of Science and Technology (YRUJST) is an academic journal established in 2016 by the Institute of Research and Development for Southern Border Provinces, Yala Rajabhat University, Thailand. The journal aims to promote and disseminate high-quality research in science, technology, and innovation. It is indexed in Tier 1 of the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) database for the 2025–2029 period.
          YRUJST serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and for building collaborative networks among researchers, faculty members, students, and educators, both within and beyond the university, at the national and international levels. It places particular emphasis on applying knowledge to support sustainable local development.
          YRUJST welcomes original research articles and review articles that are timely, methodologically rigorous, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their fields. All manuscripts must be submitted in English. Each manuscript undergoes double-blind peer review by at least two qualified reviewers in the relevant field. The journal publishes three issues per year: Issue 1 (January–April), Issue 2 (May–August), and Issue 3 (September–December).
          As an Open Access journal, it provides free online access to all full-text articles through the ThaiJO platform. To support the broad dissemination of knowledge, the journal does not charge authors any article processing charges (APCs) or other publication fees. Copyright of all published articles is held by the Institute of Research and Development for Southern Border Provinces, Yala Rajabhat University, Thailand. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

 

Aims and Scope  
          YRUJST publishes high-quality research articles and review articles that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in science and technology. The journal covers the following areas:
                    Physical Sciences: Physics and Chemistry
           Biological Sciences: Agriculture, Biology, Microbiology, and Biotechnology
                   Applied Sciences: Food Technology, Cosmetic Science, and Environmental Science

 

Peer Review Process  
          All submitted manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two experts in the relevant field. Under this process, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review. For more information, please see the Peer Review Process.

Types of Articles
         YRUJST accepts two types of articles. Authors should ensure that their manuscripts meet the requirements of the relevant article type.
          Research Article: A research article should include the Title, Author(s) and Affiliation(s) (including the corresponding author's email address), Abstract (not exceeding 300 words), Keywords (3–5), Introduction (including Research Objectives), Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion (including Limitations of the Study), Conclusion (including Suggestions), Acknowledgments (including Funding Statement), Author Contributions, Ethics Statement (for research involving human participants or animals, including the ethics committee approval number and informed consent procedures), Conflict of Interest Statement, Data Availability Statement (if applicable), AI Use Declaration, Supplementary Materials (if applicable), and References. The manuscript should be 8–15 pages in length, including references.
          Review Article: A review article should include the Title, Author(s) and Affiliation(s) (including the corresponding author's email address), Abstract (not exceeding 300 words), Keywords (3–5), Introduction (including the Objectives or Purpose of the Article), Review Methodology (required for systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and meta-analyses), Main Text (organized into appropriate thematic sections), Conclusion (including Suggestions), Acknowledgments and Funding Statement (if applicable), Author Contributions (if applicable), Conflict of Interest Statement, Data Availability Statement (if applicable), AI Use Declaration, Supplementary Materials (if applicable), and References. The manuscript should be 10–30 pages in length, including references.

 

Language 
          YRUJST accepts manuscripts written in English only, effective 1 October 2026. Thai-language manuscripts submitted before this date will continue through the review process as normal. All manuscripts must conform to standard conventions of English grammar, spelling, and usage. Authors are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts proofread by a native English speaker or a professional language-editing service before submission.

 

Publication Frequency  
      YRUJST is committed to the timely and consistent dissemination of research in science and technology. The journal publishes three issues per year:
          Issue 1: January–April
          Issue 2: May–August
          Issue 3: September–December
          Each issue contains five to eight articles.

 

Publication Fees 
          YRUJST does not charge authors any submission fees, article processing charges (APCs), or other fees at any stage of the publication process. 

 

Open Access Policy  
          YRUJST is a fully open access journal. All articles are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, without subscription or registration barriers. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), which allows readers to read, download, print, and share the articles for non-commercial purposes, provided that the original publication in YRUJST is properly cited and the articles are not modified. YRUJST does not charge readers any fees for access to published content.

 

Revenue Sources  
          YRUJST is funded primarily by Yala Rajabhat University. This funding has no influence on editorial decisions; all submissions are evaluated solely on the basis of their scientific merit.

 

Advertising and Direct Marketing Policy 
          YRUJST may promote the journal through its website, social media, academic networks, and conferences. All promotional activities are conducted in accordance with the principles of transparency, accuracy, and professional ethics. Advertising and promotional activities have no influence on editorial decisions, which are based solely on the double-blind peer review process.
          Direct marketing activities, such as calls for papers sent by email, are appropriately targeted to relevant researchers and academics, and are accurate and non-deceptive.

 

Copyright and Licensing 
          The copyright of all articles published in YRUJST belongs to the Southern Border Research and Development Institute, Yala Rajabhat University. The articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
          Authors may reuse their own published work, including figures and tables, in their subsequent research, teaching, theses, or other scholarly work, and may deposit the published PDF version of their articles in institutional or other repositories, provided that the original publication in YRUJST is properly cited. Any other use not permitted under the license, including commercial use or the distribution of modified versions, requires prior written permission from YRUJST.

          YRUJST is owned, managed, and published by the Southern Border Research and Development Institute, Yala Rajabhat University, Thailand, which supports the journal's mission of advancing scientific and technological research at the local, national, and international levels.

Journal History 
          YRUJST was established in 2016 by the Southern Border Research and Development Institute, Yala Rajabhat University, and was previously published under ISSN 2539-5688 (Print) and ISSN 2672-9873 (Online). Since Volume 8, Issue 2 (2023), the journal has been published online only as an open access journal under ISSN 2985-1416 (Online), with no fees charged to authors. Effective 1 October 2026, the journal accepts manuscripts in English only. The journal has been classified as a Tier 1 journal by the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) Centre for the assessment periods 1 January 2020–31 December 2024 and 1 January 2026–31 December 2029.
