Abstract

This study on factors affecting the adoption of fish farming technology by farmers participating in the New Theory Project in Roi Et Province in 2023 aimed to 1) To study the personal, economic, and social factors that are related to farmers' fish farming practices. 2) To identify the factors that influence farmers' acceptance of fish farming technology. 3) To identify the weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, problems, and threats faced by farmers in order to provide guidance for the development of farmers in Roi Et Province; and 4) Study the water quality in the fish pond. The study found that most farmers were male, aged between 51 and 59 years, had mostly completed primary education, and earned an average income of 15,774 baht from fish farming. An assessment of basic knowledge revealed that most participants were aware of and accepted the principles and practices related to fish farming technology. An analysis of factors influencing the acceptance of fish farming technology revealed that differences in age, number of household laborers, household income, and fish farming experience did not significantly affect the acceptance of the technology. Furthermore, differences in educational level and pond size significantly affected the acceptance of fish farming technology at the 0.05 statistical significance level. The main problems stem from the high cost of fish feed. Strengths include the availability of household labor, farmers possessing the knowledge and skills to run a fish farming business, the quality of the fish breeds, and the sustainability of the fish farming project. Weaknesses include a lack of knowledge and skills in treating fish diseases, a lack of skills in using new technologies, and water quality, which was found to be generally suitable for fish farming in the farmers' ponds.
