The dairy farming industry is widely popular in the livestock business. However, wastewater from dairy farms contains high concentrations of ammonia, which negatively affects the environment. This research focused on the ammonia bioremediation using Arthrospira platensis, a cyanobacterium that requires nitrogen sources for growth. A. platensis can accumulate various bioproducts such as phycocyanin and polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). Therefore, the aim of this research is to investigate the potential of A. platensis for ammonia bioremediation from dairy farm wastewater (DFW) by utilizing ammonia as a nitrogen source, and to evaluate its effects on biomass, phycocyanin, and PHB production. The experiment consisted of control groups (Zarrouk medium) and Zarrouk medium supplemented with dairy farm wastewater at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed that total ammonia nitrogen of 25%DFW condition was reduced by 99.65% (0.098±0.0033 mg/ml) (p<0.001). The biomass production was 1.41±0.26 mg/ml, and phycocyanin content was 0.104±0.008 mg/ml. Moreover, PHB granules were accumulated under 25% DFW and 50% DFW conditions, indicating potential applications in the livestock industry.
