Abstract

Utilization of precision artificial insemination technology in cattle has been implemented to increase cattle production and meet current consumption demands. The objective of this research was to study: 1) personal, economic, and social factors of cattle farmers, 2) to study about accurate artificial insemination technology knowledge in cattle, 3) the use of accurate artificial insemination technology in cattle, 4) the relationship between personal, economic, and social factors and the use of precision artificial insemination technology in cattle by small-scale cattle farmers in Bo Phloi district, Kanchanaburi province, and 5) Problems and suggestions. The sample consisted of 140 small-scale cattle farmers selected by simple random sampling. Interviews were used for data collection. Statistical methods applied included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and chi-square test. The research period was from July to October 2021. The research findings revealed that the farmers were 57.10% male, with an average age of 42.74 years. Most of them had secondary school education (45%). The average agricultural income was 298,928.57 baht per year. The average experience in cattle farming was 13.27 years with an average of 12.20 cattle per farm. The average income from cattle sales was 173,535.71 baht per year. The average household size was 4.28 people with an average of 3.18 workers. Knowledge on utilization of precision artificial insemination technology was at a high level with an average score of 2.67. Hypothesis testing found that gender, agricultural income, household size, number of cattle, and farmer groups' participation were significantly related to the use of precision artificial insemination technology at the 0.01 and 0.05 statistical significance levels. The main problems identified were concerns about the cost of tools used for estrus detection and the desire for precision artificial insemination technology that is easy to use and not complicated.
