Factors Influencing the Coffee Production under the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) by Farmers in the Highland Development Project Using Royal Project System Pang Mao, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study personal factors, socio-economic factors, support factors, coffee production and factors influencing coffee production under the Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) by farmers in the highland development project using royal project system Pang Mao, Chiang Mai province. Interview schedule was used for data collection from 141 out of 299 coffee farmers using simple random sampling method by lottery. Obtained data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The finding reveals that almost two-thirds (65.95%) of the farmers were male, with an average age of 52.04 years old. Majority of farmers (35.50%) had reached primary education and most of them (73.04%) were married. They had an average family workforce of 3.07 people, with 13.14 rai of coffee growing land area on average. The farmers earned 265,560.28 baht of annual family income, with 34,480.07 baht of annual coffee production cost, and had an average of 7.84 years of experience in coffee production. Meanwhile, the farmers had favorable level of attitude towards GAP (mean 3.91), and they had high motivation of coffee production under GAP (mean 3.78). Besides farmers had high level of coffee production under the GAP standards (mean 3.54). However, overall results of stepwise multiple regression analysis found 3 factors influencing coffee production under GAP of farmers as follows: 1) experience in coffee production 2) attitude towards GAP and 3) motivation to produce coffee under GAP.
