Abstract

This study aimed to determine effects of crude extracts from four herbs, Tamarindus indica seeds,Murraya paniculata leaves, Senna siamea leaves, and Diospyros mollis fruits on mortality of goat strongyles larvae. In vitro strongyles larval mortality was studied after 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours of incubation in 1, 10, 20,and 40 mg/ml crude extracts, compared to 0.25, 0.5, 1, and 2 mg/ml Ivermectin®. The results showed that both crude extracts from Tamarindus indica seeds and Murraya paniculata leaves showed 100% larval mortality after 12 hours incubation, while crude extracts from Senna siamea leaves and Diospyros mollis fruits showed 100% and 90% larval mortality after 24 hours incubation, respectively. Efficiencies of all herb extracts were lower than Ivermectin®
(100% larval mortality after 3 hours incubation). This data could be alternative way for further using Tamarindus indica seeds and Murraya paniculata leaves extracts in goat strongyles control instead of chemicals.
