Abstract

The objective of this study was to literature reviews relevant to effect of fertilizer coating on growth and yield of cereal crops. There are shown that fertilizer coating with materials such as resin, polymer and organic compound (fly ash) lead to slow release of plant nutrients. This enhances availability of nutrients in
plants. Application of coated fertilizer provided high growth and yield of cereal crops (i.e. maize, rice and wheat) than uncoated fertilizer. Coating fertilizer can be reduced nutrients loss in plant especially nitrogen (N), which is lost as NH3 (NH3 volatilization).
