Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of integrated fertilizer application on maize yield. Participatory action research (PAR) was conducted in Phu Kradueng District, Loei Province. There were 2 treatments: the use of fertilizer based on soil analysis combined with PGPR-1 bio-fertilizer and the farmers’ conventional method. The experiment was conducted in 10 areas over two trials in 2022 and 2023. The results showed that maize yield in the test method was significantly higher than in the farmers’ conventional method (p < 0.01). The test method could increase maize yield by 17 %, which translates into a substantial rise in net income and benefit-cost ratio for local farmers by 25 % and 12 % respectively compared to the farmer’s method. Additionally, the test method reduced the cost per unit of yield by 11 %. Therefore, the nutrient management technology provides an effective option for increasing maize yield for farmers in Loei Province.
