The Development of Augmented Reality for Increasing Performance Tourism: A Case Study Elephant Village Amphoe Thatoom, Surin, Thailand

Abstract
This research aimed to develop 3D animated cartoon through virtual world technology. The collected data were based on the history of the center for education and the environment of the Education Center through inquiries from staff, textbooks, and documents to design and present as 3D animated cartoon. All contents were divided into 10 scenes and then three experts assessed the satisfaction of content presentation. The result of the assessment showed that the average value was 5.00 and the standard deviation was 0.00. Additionally, 3D cartoons were developed with the Zappar application to present in the form of virtual world technology merged with reality. The developed system was used at the Education Center, Ban Ta Klang Elephant Village, Tha Tum District, Surin Province. The results of the satisfaction assessed by a group of 200 Thai and some foreign tourists revealed the level of satisfaction of the average of 4.80 and a standard deviation of 0.41 which was at the highest level. In addition, it also showed that the application could create incentives and affect the satisfaction of tourists.
