Abstract

Water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes L.) is a major problem in water resources and rapid growth. Biological control using Myrothecium inundatum is specific pathogen and efficient causing leaf blight in nature. This research aimed to develop bio-formulation development from M. inundatum for controlling water lettuce. Screening for effective strains of M. inundatum were cultured on PDA for study growth of colony, spore number and pathogenicity test. The result indicated that M. inundatum isolate-1 and isolate-4 were selected for bio-formulation development for controlling water lettuce. Next, Preparation of talc-based powder and wheat flour-based powder formulations of M. inundatum isolate-1 and  isolate-4 were tested pathogenicity in water lettuce. Wheat flour-based powder formulation showed a higher disease severity on water lettuce than talc-based powder formulation. In the next study, fungal formulation development for controlling water lettuce will be tested in natural water source on technology transfer of the community.
