Evaluation of Knowledge and Utilization of Trichoderma spp. in Chili Cultivation by Farmers in Yom Subdistrict, Tha Wang Pha District, Nan Province

Abstract

The problem of disease outbreaks caused by fungi that of the farmers’ cultivation of chili at the most often found during the growing period of chili plants effects the quality of chili. This research aimed to study 1) knowledge about the use of Trichoderma spp. in chilli cultivation, 2) the conditions of Trichoderma spp. using in chili cultivation, and 3) the problems and recommendation of Trichoderma spp. application in chili cultivation. The sample of 134 farmers, the instrument used was an interview form. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The research results found that 99.3% of farmers had knowledge on Trichoderma spp. using application for disease prevention and eradication. In terms of using Trichoderma spp. with the mixture, it should be used up immediately and did not keep it for next time. Farmers received Trichoderma spp. from the community pest management center and used Trichoderma spp. to reduce production costs. The farmers participated in training on the production and use of Trichoderma spp. on average once a year. The farmers had the knowledge in using Trichoderma spp. to prevent and eliminate plant diseases which found anthracnose or dried shrimp disease. They used the rate of 1 kg of fresh Trichoderma spp. mixed with 200 liters of clean water. Apply solely the water combined with spore suspension by spraying it on the leaves and base of the crops over the entire plot. Staff should engage in ongoing training on the proper manufacture of Trichoderma spp.
