Farmer’s Opinion towards Para Rubber Plantation Career in Koh Khan Sub-district, Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study personal factors, economic factors and exposure
to agricultural information. 2) to study the opinion on para rubber plantation of famers. 3) to compare the
opinion on para rubber plantation of famers in reference to personal factors and exposure to agricultural
information. 4) to explore the relationship between economic factors and the opinion on para rubber

plantation of famers. The sample consisted of 344 para rubber plantation famers of Koh Khan subdistrict,
Cha-uat district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The statistical analysis for the interpretation of the
gathered data were percentage, arithmetic means, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, least significant
difference, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
The result of the research revealed that the most of farmers were male. The average of age was
51.03 years. The level of education was elementary or lower. The average number of family was 4.06
persons. The average agricultural area was 13.72 rais. The average area for para rubber plantation was
12.02 rais. The average labor was 2.07 persons. The average expenditure in cultivating was 19,888.84
baht per year and the average income from cultivating was 117,966.57 baht per year. The average
experience of para rubber plantation was 22.92 years. The most exposures of agricultural information was
famer’s fellow, conference with training television and radio. Farmer’s opinion on para rubber plantation
career on the average was at the high level (mean 3.97). The results of hypothesis testing indicated that
the farmers with different member had significantly different opinion on para rubber plantation career at
0.05 level of significance. It was also found that the area for para rubber plantation had significant correlate
with the opinion on para rubber plantation career at 0.05 level of significance.
