The Knowledge Management of Administration for Inherit Thai Classical Music Culture in Thonburi District: case study in Ban Parttayakason

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) study the background and current situation of Ban Partayakoson Thai classical music group: 2) the group’s knowledge management approach and methods: and 3) how Ban Partayakoson members develop and disseminate knowledge of Thai classical music culture conservation and pass down the tradition. This research was conducted by mixed methods research together with research and development. The knowledge management administration process could be divided into 4 phases: Phase 1: Identifying the knowledge: Phase 2: creating knowledge: Phase 3: storing knowledge: and Phase 4: sharing knowledge and implementing knowledge. The samples which were purposively chosen were 2 band leaders and 25 band members. The research tools were a document analysis form, an interview form, and an evaluation form. The quality of all research tools was checked. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation, content analysis, and analytic induction. The results showed that: 1) as for the background and the current condition of the Thai classical music culture sources at Ban Partayakoson, it was found that the band started from being a Thai classical music band that went under different names over the years such as Ban Lang Wat Kalayanamitr, Wang Bang Khun Prom, and then Ban Partayakoson. “Ban Partayakoson” has always been located on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya River and is now under the management of the eight-generation successors of the founders. 2) As for management administration, it was found that the management of the band mostly focused on art according to the artist mode based on the four management processes of Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling; the outcome of management did not aim to make profits, but to create musical work and to conserve the tradition of Thai classical music. 3) The results of evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of video images found that the IOC values were equal to 1.00 and the suitability of video images was rated at the highest level
