Abstract
Histological study on Phaius tankervilleae (Banks ex I’ Heriter) Blume flower bud development showed that when the bud at the base of its corm could be visualized in October (1st week), the inner tissue comprised a shoot apical meristem and a developed bract. In the 4th week more bract primordia were found. The flower primordia were initiated in the 5th week. Flower primordia subsequently developed into sepals, lip, petals, column in the 10th week and rostellum in the 12th week. At the end of the 12th week, pollen and stigma were not found.
